The Sovereignty of God
A Word to the Nations and Their Leaders

the powers that be are ordained of God.”

To every continent. To every nation. To every leader entrusted with a throne, a seat, an office, or a voice of authority — hear this word.
There is a Sovereignty above every sovereignty, a Throne above every throne. Before empires rose, He was. After every empire falls, He remains. His name is I AM (Exodus 3:14) — the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, who knows the end from the beginning and has written history from eternity. He does not react to the nations; He reigns over them.
His sovereignty is threefold. He is Creator — all that exists came from His hand. He is Sustainer — the Providence by which the universe, the earth, and every system of authority is upheld in order. And He is the One who ordains — establishing the structures of authority through which nations and peoples are governed. Creation, Providence, and Ordinance: this is the shape of His rule, and it does not shift, weaken, or pass away.
This is not a distant claim. Scripture is direct: “The Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He will” (Daniel 4:35). “His kingdom rules over all” (Psalm 103:19). He is King of kings, Lord of lords (1 Timothy 6:15; Revelation 19:16) — not merely in title, but in fact. Every crown that has ever been worn rests, ultimately, beneath His own.
To the leaders of the nations, this truth carries a direct implication: your authority was never your own to begin with. It was delegated to you — for a time, for a purpose, and for the good of the people entrusted to your care. “There is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God” (Romans 13:1). To steward that authority in righteousness is to stand in alignment with the very order of Heaven. To resist it, to twist it, or to wield it for yourself alone is to resist an ordinance that answers directly to Him (Romans 13:2).
This is the foundation beneath every nation, every government, every generation: God is. From this one truth, all order, all authority, and all accountability proceed. Whether a nation is young or ancient, whether it is led by many or by one, whether it calls itself republic, monarchy, or otherwise — it stands or falls on this same ground.

Let every leader consider what has been entrusted to him. Let every nation reckon with the Throne above its own. The foundation does not move, though nations rise and fall upon it.
God is Sovereign.
